My Action Plan
Plan for Target no.1:
Once the vocal lessons begin, focus on the warm ups to gain a full understanding of my current vocal range in hopes of working with the singing tutor to extend that vocal range over a period of time. In order to progress and extend my vocal range, I shall practise various warm up techniques especially sirens. The sirens warm up will allow me to extend my vocal range therefore I plan on practising on a weekly basis for 15 minutes.
Plan for Target no.2:
Contact my singing tutor and approach her with the topic of my diaphragm within the lessons. Ask her advice on warm ups with the diaphragm and continue to practise them at home. Use the internet as a resource in order to gain scientific knowledge of the diaphragm in order to extend my understanding. I intend to focus on diaphragm techniques such as breathing warm ups in my vocal lessons on a weekly basis.
Plan for Target no.3:
In order for me to gain a deeper understanding of my head voice, I need to be fully comfortable and knowledgable of my vocal range. From there I will ask my tutor to help me gain confidence using my head voice by identifying my strengths and weaknesses. I will sing songs that are slightly higher than what I would normally sing, for example "Ignorance" by Paramore. I will then work on these songs with my singing tutor twice a week in order to gain confidence when singing in my head voice.
Plan for Target no.4:
In order for me to gain a deeper understanding of my head voice, I need to be fully comfortable and knowledgable of my vocal range. From there I will ask my tutor to help me gain confidence using my head voice by identifying my strengths and weaknesses. I will sing songs that are slightly higher than what I would normally sing, for example "Ignorance" by Paramore. I will then work on these songs with my singing tutor twice a week in order to gain confidence when singing in my head voice.
Plan for Target no.4:
Remain positive and continue to do the work. Consistently meet deadlines in hopes of making the course easier for myself to stick to. Divide my time up wisely in order to make sure I am organised. In order to accomplish this I will continue to log onto my google account during the weekends and make sure that everything is up to date on a daily basis.
Plan for Target no.5:
Continue to place myself in situations that I find uncomfortable. For example: Performing songs that I am not too comfortable with; continue to meet new people; use regular performances in hopes of becoming a stronger performer; look into local gigs and attempt singing solo. I will continue to do this on a monthly basis and logging my progress.
PASS - You have provided a good set of instrumental goals and a clear and strategic action plan to help you to achieve them. To improve you grade you could rethink some of your goals to make them more specific and relevant to you. The action plan is nearing a MERIT as it stands, to improve you could include a review schedule for each goals so you can check your own progress. PS: 2 octaves in 6 months is possibly a little ambitious!
